My favorite of the two was having the honor of making my grandmother's 90th birthday cake, a coconut chiffon with ginger lime butter-cream and toasted coconut butter-cream fillings. As a child I remember her yard filled and overflowing with the most beautiful fragrant flowers.
The funniest part was my uncle had to work hard to convince her that you could EAT the flowers! The look on her face when she tried one was priceless!
(I know not many people eat the flowers since mostly they can taste a little blah, but I love to flavor mine with a wonderful orange oil and they do taste quite yummy.)
My Grandmother, Mamie Agnus's 90th birthday cake:
The other sweet little cake I made for my bosses wife, as a surprise for a hard weeks work.
It was a very yummy 4 layer vanilla bean cake with a orange curd filling, covered with white chocolate fondant.
Mrs D's cake:
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures as much as I loved creating them.
See you later. Ta-Ta!
